data analytics study guide

The syllabus is organised into five units. Unit 1 covers introduction to big data, data sources, and the analytics lifecycle. Unit 2 covers hadoop, HDFS, and the MapReduce programming model. Unit 3 covers statistical foundations, regression, and hypothesis testing. Unit 4 covers classification, clustering, and frequent pattern mining. Unit 5 covers data visualization, stream processing, and analytics tools. Notes on this page are tagged by unit, so you can revise in the order the paper is actually set rather than hunting through a single large PDF.

Data Analytics spans two very different halves. The Hadoop and MapReduce units are systems material that must be drawn and explained, while the statistics and mining units are numerical. Students typically prepare one half thoroughly and get caught by the other.

Do not skip either half. Be able to write a MapReduce word-count walkthrough and draw the HDFS architecture, and separately be able to compute a regression line and run an Apriori pass. Those four items alone cover a large share of most papers.

One habit matters more than any single resource on this page: solve previous-year papers before you finish reading the notes, not after. AKTU repeats question patterns heavily, and a topic you recognise from three past papers deserves far more of your remaining time than one that has never been asked. Use the papers to direct your revision, then use the notes to fill the gaps they expose.

Frequently asked questions

Is AKTU Data Analytics a numerical or theory paper?

Both, in roughly equal measure. The Hadoop and visualization units are descriptive, while the statistics, regression, and pattern-mining units require worked calculations.

How important is MapReduce in the exam?

Very. A MapReduce explanation or dry run, usually word count or a simple aggregation, is one of the most consistently repeated questions in the paper.

Are these Data Analytics notes free to download?

Yes. Every note, paper, and question set on AcademicArk is free to view and download. Creating an account lets you bookmark resources and track what you have already revised, but it is not required to download.

Are the Data Analytics notes aligned to the current AKTU syllabus?

Resources are tagged by unit against the current AKTU syllabus, and uploads are rated by other students so the most useful material rises to the top. If you spot material from an outdated syllabus, report it and it will be reviewed.

Can I contribute my own DA notes?

Yes, and it is genuinely useful to others. Upload your notes, papers, or question sets from your profile and they become available to every student taking the same paper, with credit to you as the uploader.
